This Week’s Theme: Food

This week we are learning about food. In order to further your child’s learning at home, try some of the following:

  • practise saying the words for foods and drinks around the home or in shops
  • ask your child to name the foods he/she is eating for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Practise the following phrases:

I am eating….

 I ate …..

I like ….

I don’t like …..

I am hungry/thirsty.

Bothar visitor

Our school had a visit from Bothar – the charity we help with our globe day money each year.  Aisling came and showed us photos and explained how our money helps them to send animals to the very poor countries. We have sent chickens most years which are very helpful.

We saw how they get a plane and then lorries to their new families. We also saw that the families have to have training to learn how to look after their new animals properly. Also every family gives some of the new born animals to another family in the village !

In this way our gift keeps on going and growing ! Many families and villages benefit from our globe day coins. It is a wonderful gift  for so many. Aisling , and the teachers too, are very grateful for your help in sending in the coins when you can.
Thank you

Tree Planting for National Tree Day

Margaret planted the tree with us outside the front of the school. We can watch this tree grow into a fantastic horse chestnut tree as we get older. It will produce horse chestnuts or “conkers” as it grows.

Dancercise

Dancercise Crazy

Dancercise Video

The Parent’s Room Dancercise classes have been a huge success. Over 20 moms put their names down and we now have a waiting list in operation. Brenda Malone, our Dancercise tutor, was full of enthusiasm and got the gang going. There was a lot of laughter and smiling red faces at the end with everyone saying how glad they were they had come. Keep an eye out for all new Parent’s Room classes as they book out fast and we can only take those who are booked in. Rock on ladies you’ll be fit as fiddles by Christmas!!!
